CSI Slave Liberation Mission Frees 350

350 men, women and children were freed from slavery in North Sudan through CSI’s
underground slave retrieval network in January. Each slavery survivor received a Sack of Hope through CSI, and a new female goat through the Goats for the Old Goat Campaign!
One freed slave was 12-year-old Piol Thiep Deng. His name is all that he remembers from his parents. For his entire life, Piol had lived as the slave of a man named Ali, who beat him, verbally abused him, and never called Piol by his real name. Today, Piol is free to choose his own name, practice his own religion, and live in his home country, South Sudan.
Thank you for helping to free Piol!

CSI Distributes Aid to Christian Refugees from Iraq, Syria
In December 2012, a CSI team traveled to northern Iraq to distribute aid to Christian refugees displaced by Islamist terrorism. 200 families received kerosene heaters and 300 children received warm winter jackets ahead of the bitter winter.
One recipient of aid was an Iraqi Christian man, ”Khalil.” At the height of anti-Christian violence in Iraq in 2007, Khalil fled Baghdad for northern Iraq with his wife and two daughters. Khalil’s family fled again to Syria in 2009 after a bombing attack wounded Khalil’s nephew. Last July, the Syrian Civil War turned them into refugees for a third time, forcing them out of Damascus and back to Iraq.
Khalil received a kerosene heater and winter jackets for his daughters. He says, ”We realize now that someone is thinking of us. Thank you! ”
